Snyder on September 5, 1878, with signatures of the president, cashier, and transfer officer of the Farmers and Mechanics National Bank and the Philadelphia City Controller, future Pennsylvania Governor Robert E. Pattison; eight surrounding vignettes including a view of Independence Hall, and the adjacent Old City Hall building in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, at top center; head-and-shoulder portraits of George Washington, at upper left, Benjamin Franklin, at lower left, Henry Clay, at upper right, and William Penn, at lower right; and vignettes of a blacksmith standing before an anvil and hammer, at center left, and a young barefoot woman holding sheaves of grain above her head with a scythe behind her.
