Jacob Sturn memoir and related material
Manuscripts
The memoir, which was written in 1945, covers Jacob Sturn's life from his childhood in Austria to his death in California. Joseph M. Sturn discusses in detail his father's experiences as an immigrant in New York City; a coal miner in Davenport, Iowa; a miner in Colorado and Virginia City, Montana (where he joined a vigilance committee); on the Oregon Trail with Russell, Majors & Waddell; in Kansas during the dispute over its statehood; and wheat farming in Rice County, Kansas. Included with the memoir are Jacob Sturn's naturalization records from Iowa and Kansas, which were issued to him in 1856, 1858, and 1860, as well as letters by Joseph M. Sturn, Jr., requesting copies of those records

Hans Christian Ørsted autobiography: typescript of translation

Copy of translation of Hans Christian Ørsted's autobiography sent by Robert C. Stauffer, an associate professor in the Department of the History of Science at the University of Wisconsin, Madison, to Bern Dibner. The translation, which is heavily marked up, is by Martha Trytten. Also includes a copy of a one-page undated letter from Trytten to Stauffer regarding the translation, and a one-page cover letter from Stauffer, who had initially requested the translation, to Bern Dibner, dated 1965, August 24.

Hiram C. Hazen materials

Assorted materials relating to Hiram Corning Hazen. Includes two letters, one written to Hazen from his brother Chester Hilliard Hazen (1826-1899) in which Chester writes of Hazen's apprenticeship with a Mr. Devereux and of their uncle's lost dog (1847). The other letter is to Hazen's father Harvey Lord Hazen (1797-1874) from Hazen's uncle Howlet Hezekiah Hazen (1790-1860), who writes of his school subscribers in Norwich and Salem and asks for information about Harvey's schools (1829). Also included is an undated pastel drawing of a young Hiram Hazen (possibly a reprint), an undated photograph showing Hazen in older age holding a newspaper, and two newspaper obituaries on Hazen's death (1915).

The Seeley Townsite Land Company records contain a certificate of incorporation, correspondence, financial records, invoices, receipts, newspaper clippings, photographs, plat maps, proxies, and stock certificates. There are also two volumes, bylaws and a minute book. There is also a manuscript, Immediate Step Toward Christian Union with no author.
