This map is a variant of Blaeu's 1662 map, Kashnor dates as 1667. Van der Krogt dates between 1662 and 1672. Map can be seen in situ in RB 74701. Surrounded by artwork, allegorical figures.     Kashnor notes, "Shows California as an island, and the imaginary Strait of Anian. This is one of the decorative type, richly colored." Shirley notes this map originates with that of Arnold Colom, c.1655, which supplied the surround scenes. This map was modified by de Wit and used by Doncker in his Zee Atlas (does NOT appear in the Doncker atlas owned by the Huntington, RB 70778). Kashnor dates as 1665, Shirley as 1676.     Kashnor notes, " Shows California as an island with the 'Strait of Anian,' also a small portion of New Zealand. Locates Nouv. Albion and Po. S. Franco. Draco." Kashnor dates as 1666, but Shirley identifies this as the second state of this map and gives appeared in information, dating to 1680. Dedication to Charles II. Pitt was supplied this plate by van Waesberge. Artwork around map is taken from Visscher's 1658 map, see 093:057M. Prime meridian: Ferro. Relief: no. Projection: Dual Hemisphere.
