This section is now being brought up along with the others but will be kept four feet lower for a while. The track running up along the face of the dam lengthwise of the picture is the one over which concrete will be supplied to one of the towers not shown in the picture and which tower will be out of reach of the chuting system. .

Big Creek, Shaver Lake Dam - Northwest Gas Shovel at work in the excavation at the north end of the Shaver Lake Dam. The man standing just below the team of horses in the upper central part of the picture is at approximately elevation 5370, which will be the top of the Shaver Dam. The excavation at this point has been made wider than really necessary for the dam in ordcer to secure material to make the fill for the bottom of the storage piles.

Big Creek, Shaver Lake Dam - On the left side of the picture is the fill which has been made for the bottom of the lower side of the storage piles. The tunnel in which the concrete aggregate will be loaded into cars is shown just beyond the mast of the derrick. The secondary crusher is being installed just below the wagon shown in the central part of the picture while the screening plant is located just in front of the wagon. The excavation shown just below the mule is for the primary crusher, the foundation for which is now being poured. The trestle bents in the central part of the picture will carry the track out onto the primary crusher and after passing beyond the curusher the empty trains will return to the quarry on the trestle shown on the right. .

Big Creek, Shaver Lake Dam - Looking south across excavation for the Shaver Dam. In this view five shovels can be seen, all in operation. The first one at the bottom of the picture is our gasoline Northwest 1, the next one is our new Marion electric #37; our electric Marion #32 is working near the Stevenson Creek channel, and beyond is the Bucyrus, with our Marion Steam shovel #21 in the extreme southern end of the excavation with just the end of the boom and top of the cab showing.
